Mary Jo Spiegel writes the Saucy Cook, an informative humor column
about food, life and cooking. Although Mary Jo attended culinary
school and has, in fact, cooked for restaurants (some of which
actually paid her) she did not complete her studies upon realizing
restaurant cooking is darned hard work. This has not gotten
in the way of her enjoying fabulous food.
Instead, Mary Jo cooks for her family every day, chronicling
her adventures (well, misadventures, mainly) in her regular newspaper
column,
The Saucy Cook. She’s also contributed her
odd look at life to magazines, including Saveur,
and on occasion
gives demonstrations on just how perilous
messy painful easy
cooking can be. Clearly, if this woman can turn out great meals,
anyone can.
When Mary Jo isn’t cooking, she collects old cookbooks
and contemplates breaking the law by raising chickens in her
urban backyard. Future plans include taking up fire breathing
to add extra excitement in the execution of crème brulee
and toast.
